1. Lolita is a modest streetfashion. Slutty clothes, showing much skin and short skirts in Lolita is not allowed. Even though lolita has a sub-style called ero-lolita, even ero-lolita isin't slutty. It's only abit less-modest than other substyles and often includes leather,corsets and fishnets but still has lolita elements and is not slutty.
2. Lolita skirts are mostly cupcake shaped but there are also A-line skirts which are used with more elegant and classical styles.
3. The most basic lolita outfit includes:
- A petticoat. Petticoat makes the skirt,dress and jumperskirt puffy.There are two styles of petticoats. Bell-shaped and A-line.
- Bloomers. Bloomers are worn under the skirt so
- o that nobody can see your panties.
- Knee-high socks. Knee-high socks look better with a lolita outfit than thights but thights can be used.
- A dress. Lolita dresses are knee-lenght and dont show much skin. Lolita dresses that look like maid-outfits are a sign of a cosplay or ita-lolita.
- If not a dress then a jumper-skirt. Like dresses,jumperskirts are knee-lenght or just an inch above the knees and are often worn with a blouse. Also,jumperskirts are bellshaped or A-line.
- If not a jumper-skirt then a skirt. Skirts are bellshaped and knee-lenght.
- A blouse. Blouses are worn with a skirt or under a jumper-skirt. Lolita blouses often have puffed sleeves and peter pan collars.
- A pair of Mary-Janes. Mary-janes are the most common lolita footwear. Mary-Janes can also be platform-type shoes. Flats and boots can also be worn with lolita if cordinated correctly. Stilletos are definetly not allowed in the lolita fashion.
- Headwear. Headwear is a must in lolita fashion. The most commn headwear are: alice bows, mini top-hats, roses,crowns and tiaras.
5. Corsets can be used in gothic, ero and aristocrat lolita outfits when used properly.
6. Fishnet stockings can be used in lolita but can really look akward with a sweert and classical outfits. Altough fishnets can be used with ero lolita outfits.
7. Shiny fabrics are a definnet no-no in the lolita fashion.
8. Leather is mostly frowned upon but is allowed in a punk lolita outfit as a leather jacket.
9. Lolita dresses,skirts and jumperskirts are always knee-lenght or an inch above the knee.
10. Arm-warmers and leg-warmers are also frowned upon in the lolita community.
11. Neon colors are also unacceptable in a lolita outfit.
12. Dark makeup looks mostly bad with lolita (black lipstick,black eyeshadow etc) but when done right and not overdoing the makeup it can still look good with aristocrat,punk and gothic lolita.
13. A lolita's hair should always be tidy and neat. Not every hairstyle suits well with a lolita outfit.
14. A proper lolita should always act like a proper lady.
